Something Better 'o8! Wee!
Sorry for not updating in ages!! I really hope all of you can forgive me. There's no excuse for me not being able to update the blog ... unless you count laziness?

I don't really know what to type about to be honest, so I'm just going to ramble about Something Better 'o8. I'm not going, but, ummm...it's on the 9th of May. I guess talk to Sarah since she knows a heck of a lot more than I do about it?

Guess what else is in the very near future!! MY BIRTHDAY!! May SEVENTH. :) Okayokay. Uhh...I guess I'll put a picture or something up now?

Hello Kitty is pretty adorable. ;]

Verse of the Day
Isaiah 43:1b-3a

God says,"Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you (Christians) by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Isreal, your Savior."

What are some tough situations that God brings Christians through to show us that when "you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you"?

Verse of the Day
1 Corinthians 13:7, 13

7-"Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."

13-"So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love."

True love is willing to go through anything, and that is why God is the only one who has TRUE love. On this earth we will never find a person who loves us no matter what. If we remember that then we won't burden ourselves by trying to find someone whose love is perfect. I can see it in my life. I want to find someone who loves me. But then I remind myself that there is no PERSON who will ever TRULY love me and that's okay because God already loves me no matter what, and that is all I need. People will always let us down, but God never will.

Can you tell me, what are the differences between the world's definition of love and God's?

Verse of the Day
James 4:7-8a

"Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and He will drawn near to you."

Why is this verse encouraging to us? (According to this verse if we obey God what will we have the ability to do?)

Verse of the Day
Psalm 23

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green patures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk throught the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever."

God leads us and keeps us safe every day. Why does He do all this for undeserving sinners?

I know this is kinda silly and childish, but I just wanted to see if any of you saw this when you were a kid and remembered it. It reminded me of the good old times.

Josh
2 Peter 3:9-10

"The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentence. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed."

I love these verses because they remind us that God wants to see all of us come to repentence. He doesn't want to see anybody go to hell. That is why He is giving undeserving people, more time on this earth. Because He wants everyone to see His forgiveness and repent. But this verse also reminds us that God is coming to destroy the earth and bring judgement. Even though He wants to see everyone come into a relationship with Him, He still will judge those who are unwilling. He can not wait forverer. And in the blink of an eye He will come back to judge and to save.

In these verses Peter says that God is patient towards us, so what are some ways God has patience with us? What does Peter mean when he says, "But the day of the Lord will come like a thief"?

Verse of the Day
Proverbs 18:24

"A man with many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend that sticks closer then a brother."

Does anyone know why he says, "a man with many companions may come to ruin"? And how are some ways that God sticks closer than a brother? I thought about this and I want to see what you guys think.

Verse of the Day
Job 1:21

“The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”

God has bleesed us with so much and He created everything. So it is His right to take away from us what He wants. Job was able to praise God even in his trials because He knew he didn't deserve what God had already given him and he knew that God would be with him and that God would use this trial to teach him and make Him stronger.

Verse of the Day
Hebrews 12:2

"For the joy that was set before him, Jesus endured the cross, despising the shame and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God."

Jesus was able to go through the crucifiction because He was looking towards the joy He would have in being our Savior. And we can go through hard times by focusing on the joy we will have when we are with our Savior in heaven.

Verse of the Day
2 Corinthians 12:7-10

Paul says, "To keep me from being too elated (which means proud) by these surpassingly great revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me, to keep me from being too elated. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in your weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles. For when I am weak, then I am strong."

Verse of the Day
Matthew 23:37

"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together the way a hen gathers her chicks, under her wings, but you were unwilling."

I love this verse because it is a good picture of how much Jesus loves us and how He wants to be close to us.

Verse of the Day
Hebrews 4:15-16

"For we (Christians) do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every way was tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need."

I like this verse because it reminds us that Jesus was tempted like we are, when He was here on earth, but He was able to resist and never sinned. This is why we can only defeat our sins with His help. Each day He goes before the Father pleading on our behalf, that God would forgive us of our past sins and give us strength to fight our present sins. But we need to do our part and ask Him to give us that strength. And when we do that, He will give us all the help we need.

Verse of the Day
Psalm 103:8
"The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always accuse us of evil or be angry with us forever. He has not treated us as we deserve for our sins or paid us back for our wrongs. As high as the heavens are above the earth-that is how vast his mercy is toward those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our rebellious acts from Himself."

Luke 6:21
"Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh."

Both these verses are written for Christians. They remind us that we have been forgiven from our sins. Even though we go through hard times and sometimes it seems like we aren't blessed by God we need to remember all that God has done for us and all that He has promised to do. When Jesus says, "Blessed are you who are hungry now" He is talking about those who hunger here on earth. However this is not physical hunger but spiritual hunger. Those who are spiritually hungry are the ones who realize their need and look to God for satisfaction. They will be blessed because when they go to God for their satisfaction He will give it to them.
