Video Panic
It's time for us to sit around the proverbial camp fire of technology and remember those good old days. You know, this past Friday when we criss-crossed the city with video cameras dodging store management, making stuff up, and throwing self respect into the wind. I think my favorite part was Kenny waking up Saturday morning with a fish induced stomach ache. What was yours?

hey!
Hey, does anybody have any cool youth group pics?

Email them to me and I'll post them here, and we'll vote on our favorite one.

Introducing. . .

Introducing a different kind of youth group. Certainly different from the world and maybe a little different than most youth groups. Here are a couple of things that we want to make us different:

First, we want the gospel to touch everything we do. Paul made his life about what was "of first importance." (I Cor. 15:3) When Paul ministered, he "decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified." (I Cor. 2:2) So we want our youth group to be more about the gospel than hanging out and having fun. And while we are hanging out and having fun we won't forget the Good New of Jesus Christ. We'll let the gospel change the movies we watch, the music we like, and the people we hang out with.

Second, we don't believe that this world has what it takes to make us happy. We are visitors in this world--we don't belong here and we we're not staying here. Like Moses, we would "rather be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasure's of sin." (Hebrews 11:25) We "desire a better country" (Heb. 11:16). The world is not our friend, so we won't act like it is. Talk is cheap, sin is a lie and our lives are almost over. So we'll ignore the world's toys and people's opinions--and chase the Prize instead.

Third, we believe that every word of Scripture applies to teenagers. Just because we're almost-adults doesn't mean that we're almost-Christians. There's no such thing as a half-Christian. We haven't found an age restriction on a commandment of Scripture yet. So if the Bible tells us to be holy like God is holy, we'll strive with all our hearts to be holy. If the Bible tells us to preach the gospel to all the nations, we'll share the gospel every time we get a chance. If the Bible tells us that the church is God's plan for His kingdom, we'll put the church before our own interests. If the Bible tells us to be kind, gentle and humble, we'll treat other people that way. We don't disobey God because we're teenagers; we disobey because we're sinners that need God's grace and God's Word just as much as any adult.

We want our youth group to be half-family, half-fun, and all Jesus. You'll have to excuse us for having big goals, but we believe that we have a big God. We want something better. More of the Bible and more of Jesus--while we wait for heaven.
