Brenda's Blog Entry
I've been in this youth group for a long time now. It may seem wierd, but I never actually noticed everybody-probably just my close girlfriends and that's it. They were just there. It's a wierd concept but let me explain what I mean.

Before all the turmoil that followed after our old youth pastor left, youth group for me was all about hanging out with my girlfriends, seeing which next hot guy would start coming lol, and where we would next take a trip to for fun-and spiritual growth (like the NY trip). It was so simple. I don't think I was at all absorbed in devotions, however, I was atleast learning a couple things.

Then when the turmoil started, along came some issues, some problems, and many hurt feelings. It feels really painful sometimes with what's going on in our families and with our "supposed" friends, doesn't it? I'm sorry to say I'm not a big target for these problems, but I do sympathize and really wish I could do something to make it better.

But see, a thought just came across me...we are BROTHERS and SISTERS...yes you and I know it as truth, especially since one of our members always says "I love you....*momentary pause*.......as a sister/brother in Christ." Lol...but it dawned on me that we really are brothers/sisters. Real family. People you can behave your worst with and still be loved. People who will always be there for you. People who don't just push you to the side when you've done something wrong. People who understand what you going through (well maybe it isn't always so great but deep down we care for each other). Infact the whole church in general is a home away from home. It feels great to have another family.

It was just a thought. But also, about what Derick was preaching on wednesday, we should act like brothers and sisters. I don't always feel so close and keep a lot of things to myself believe it or not...and I also remain unaware to a lot of things that go on with my youth group. But we shouldn't do that we should be open to each other. And if there is something bothering you, you should tell some one. And if you think there's something wrong with somebody else, help them or at least try to show some concern.

It just dawned on me the other day and I thought maybe I should express it. I feel closer b/c of everything that's happened now, but at the same time I think we should be more open and closer so that we can work on our weak points together and become stronger as a youth group. Although we have grown closer...I got to say that I don't think we are as connected as we think.

Ending on that note, I'd like to say yes, I am VERY against the no i-pod/cell phones/cd players rule for going to Boston lol. But it's for our own good that we would get closer somehow. And besides, it's only one night. I will survive. We'll be too busy shopping and touring anyway^-^

holla,

Brenda^-^

Ps. Boston trip Aug 11-12, $23 plus cash for food/souvenirs just FYI incase you forgot like I did lol.

Faith and Christ's Love
I would like to tell anyone who is reading this what I've been learning in my devotions. Today I was reading 2 Corinthians 5 where Paul talks about how faith and Christ's love should guide our Christian lives. This just reminded me that if we live by faith in what the Bible tells us, we will see how loving Jesus is in what He did for us and how we should love Him and others. For He loved us so much that he suffered the worst death possible just for us. I hope this is as encouraging of a reminder to you as it was for me.

BOSTON TRIP URGENT MESSAGE
Derick and I realized that the amount of the trip was too high for some, and since this trip is for you we wanted to make it more affordable. We cancelled the Duck Tour on the trip. Now the cost of Boston is $23.00. I hope this will make it possible for all of you to go. Spread the word. See you all tonight!

Who Am I
By : Kenny

The biggest thing in a persons life is trying to figure out who they are...And in some cases people waste their whole life trying to figure out that very question...Some people go to a psycholigist to pay them money to tell them stuff that they already know, just for the reassurance...Or some people even go as far as to talk to a psychic, who loves taking your money to tel you gibberish...And here is the part that hurts my soul is knowing that people can know by just looking up at the sky during the day and see the sun and clouds, or at night and see the moon and stars...And it dont even click that God in the beginning of the bible says "in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth"... And if they came to that realization in there life then the search for Who Am I is over cause we know where we came from and where we are going...I am glad to say that I am a child of God's... And my soul purpose or Who Am I is a servent of Christ, and everything I do in my life is to bring God glory...So I challenge use ut there reading this...Ask God to give you a burden to see these people that are so oblivious to God's creation and to share your faith with them, cause if we wont someone else will...

What are you learning?
Hey everyone. I was just looking at the comments and noticed that a couple of you have shared what the Lord has been doing in your life through your time alone with Him. This is so great. I'm glad you guys are sharing. I am posting these in case anyone has missed reading these. They were listed in the comments and I am afraid they are too hidden for people to enjoy. So I am posting them for everyone to read and be encouraged. Also, please comment with some of the things the Lord is teaching you.

STEVE
Hey people who might be checking out our blog I am one of the many teens that our involved in this youth group and let me tell you what I learned in the word today: well i am going through judges and i was in ch 16 and i was reading about samson and how samson's wife tempted him and trick him into telling her what gave him his strengh and then she cut his hair off.It just taught me and made relize that we shoudn't be relying on ourselves for strengh we need to rely on god for strengh just as samson did when he was tied up between those pillers and he prayed to the lord and God to give him strengh one more timeso he could avenge the philistines for what they did to his eyes. we need to rely on God no matter what situation we are in no matter how hard or easy it may be because God will always do his will in that situation and will guide over you no matter what he will never leave you or forsake you. well thats what i learned hope to see you out at church for youth group on friday or saturday. peace steve

JOSH
Hi, for those of you who don't know my name is Joshua Snipes and I would like to share with you what I learned in my devotions today. I was reading John 15 when Jesus talks about how He is the true vine and we are the branches. Well, He also talks later in the chapter about how if we do what He tells us to do we must be ready to be persecuted, for if people persecuted Jesus 2,000 yrs. ago they will definitely persecute us, but He also tells us that if we do what He wants us to do we're His friends[not just His servants and that means He will certaintly help us through the persecution if we go to Him. I was just thinking about how awesome ,the fact that we are His friends if we do what he wants us to do and no matter how lonely we get or how discouraged we get He will always be right there to help us if we are willing to ask Him to, is. That fact, that no matter how hard things get we can always go to God for help because He is a friend who sticks closer than a brother, has really helped me cope with the possibility that I might have to go to Frankford High School next year and I hope it can really help you if you need to be reminded of it. Well, thank you for letting me take some of your time to hopefully encourage you. I hope to see you tonight at prayer metting. Josh
