COOKOUT!
Hey,
No youth group Friday night this week. Saturday night we're having a cookout at the Matos' household. They've been kind enough to invite us over and feed us! How cool is that? We're meeting at church at 5:30pm on Saturday. Try to think of anybody who you can invite or just call and remind them that we're meeting on Saturday this week. See ya Saturday.

Hope in Christ
I've been reading through Revelation in my devotions. Revelation is a book about what is going to happen in the end times and especially to those who reject Christ, yet for those of us who are Christians Revelation is really a book of encouragement because it talks about how Satan will be defeated and how God will take care of His people during the end times. When we read through Revelation 6 we see that our Savior, Jesus Christ is going to open the seals on the seven scrolls and allow things like famine war and death, but in Revelation 7:15-17 God says about us Christians "Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence. They shall hunger no more neither thrist anymore; the sun shall not strike them nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb (Jesus Christ) in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes." God will always be their to protect us no matter what is going on in the world because this is just are temporary home, our real home is in heaven. If you are reading this and you are going through a hard time in life I would encourage you to read the verses that I posted a couple of weeks ago by clicking on the last comment I made.

What God's Doing
Hey Guys,
God is working! He's moving His Spirit and His people to further the gospel here and around the world. Stop by Darla's blog to see what God is doing in her trip to Zambia this summer. And some great things are happening in Kensington too. We're so thankful for Ramon and Jessica and the many other people who work so faithfully at the KNH.
Pray that God will be working this weekend at Friends and Family Days. It's awesome to see God working! I hope you're excited to see Him do even more. Be in prayer and stay in the Word.

This Weekend

This Weekend

Hey Guys,
We've got a busy weekend ahead of us. And lots of great ways to not waste your summer. I want to encourage you to come to the activities below, not because you're bored or you know you should--but because this is your chance to serve Jesus Christ. So often we get very busy in ministry, but we forget who we're doing it for. Spend some time this weekend serving Jesus Christ. Let it be something personal that you're doing because you love Him and want to make His name known in Juniata.
Here's what's going on:
  • Friday, 6:00pm We're meeting at church to hand out flyers for Friends and Family Days. Pray for good weather.
  • Friday, 7:30pm We'll be hungry after all that walking around. Bring 7 bucks for the Pizza Buffet Afterwards, we'll come back and spend some time in God's Word.
  • Saturday, 10:00pm Church workday. There's a lot of stuff that needs to get done for our Friends and Family Day next weekend. And we need your help!
  • Since we didn't have a normal Wednesday night service this week, call anybody you can think of and make sure they know the different times and stuff. See you guys Friday!

    Don't Waste Your Summer
From my message three weeks ago, here are some ideas from Scripture on how to spend your summer wisely. Stay close to Christ!

    Don't
    Waste Your Summer!

Seven ways to use a short summer for a long eternity

1.Set aside long, intentional time to spend with Jesus.

    Hebrews 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

    Psalm 63:1
O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there
    is no water.

2.See what it's like to actually spend an hour praying.

    Matthew 7:7

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find;knock, and it will be opened to you.

    James 5:16
Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.

3.Spend time with people who need your spiritual help.

    Philippians 2:3-4
Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.

    Acts 20:33-35
"I have coveted no one's silver or gold or clothes."You yourselves know that these hands ministered to my own needs and to the men who were with me. "In everything I showed you that by working hard in this manner you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.' "

4.Spend time with people who are different than you.

    Matthew 5:46-47
"For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have?Do not even the tax collectors do the same?If you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?

    1 Corinthians 12:20-21
But now there are many members, but one body. And the eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you"; or again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you."

5.Look for chances to display God's mercy.

    Galatians 6:10
So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.

    James 1:27
Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.

6.Read books that bring you closer to Christ.

    Proverbs 27:17
Iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens another.

    7.Remember that laziness is sin..

    Proverbs 20:13
Do not love sleep, or you will become poor; Open your eyes, and you will be satisfied with food.

    Proverbs 13:4
The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, But the soul of the diligent is made fat.

    2 Thessalonians 3:10-13
For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either. For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies. Now such persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to work in quiet fashion and eat their own bread. But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary of doing good.
